Now that the summer holidays and warm evenings are a distant memory, we need to make sure our homes are in tiptop shape for some long nights in. Tis the season to be cosy and with a few key pieces and little tweaks here and there, it is super simple to do.
Firstly, colour! Gone are the greys of the last few years. Colour and texture is back in bucket loads, so grab a throw or some scatter cushions in your favourite colour, and you’ll immediately inject life into the room. If you don’t want to go for a solid colour go for a floral print with a variety of hues. Or, if you’re feeling really adventurous go for plaid, it’s such an easy way to give a room a wintery vibe and there’s loads of it about right now. Revamp an old lamp with a new shade – colourful pleated and printed shades are in and readily available and if you can’t find exactly what you want, choose a fabric and get one made to measure – easy!
Candles are are simple way to create a warm, cosy atmosphere, they give off wonderful light and create a soft glow. Bunch them together in different heights on a table, window sill or mantelpiece and don’t forget to put the odd scented one in amongst them.
So, light the fire, mull some wine, snuggle up for the winter and dream your way in to your very own personal Narnia.
