So as we are half way through 2015, let’s look at the styles and trends for this year and how we can use them in our homes to ring in the changes and add a new lease of life.
Retro is big right now and many people are upcycling 1970s furniture such as side boards, coffee tables and drinks cabinets by painting them dark blues and greys to fit in with the industrial look. Interestingly, adding one or two pieces from this era, either genuinely vintage or replica, can work very well with modern, antique and Chinese furniture.
Flora and fauna patterns including exotic birds can be used as accents, think lamps, accessories, pictures and even wallpaper. Animal prints are huge this year too and can be used in faux fur cushion covers or rugs and if you’re in to snake skin look wallpapers, turn to Osborne and Little for inspiration.
Look at what’s being used on the catwalk, interiors tend to follow the fashion trend in colours, patterns etc. You can incorporate these into your furniture, cushions and paint colours. But no feature walls please, that’s so 1995!
