Summer is in full swing in the Northern Hemisphere, yet the World is still not quite back to full-on holiday mode. So, for all those of you who can’t get away, we want to show you how to have a stylish staycation at home. These tips will help you turn your home into a staycation paradise.

First up, declutter!

If you want to feel the calm, relaxed holiday vibes at home, you need to declutter and organise first. We’ve got lots of tips for decluttering here and here to get you started.

The trick with this staycation declutter is that you try to put away 20% more of your belongings than you would usually on a home organising session. Remove appliances and decor to declutter your surfaces and give yourself those minimal hotel vibes.

But, do save room for a few new things…

We recommend treating yourself to some new candles, plants and flowers to set the tone for your staycation at home. This is the quickest way to create a new vibe with scents and soft lighting. Think tropical, like coconut, jasmine and citrus.

Fresh flowers work for look and scent, but you could also go for faux flowers for something a bit longer-lasting. We love Amaranthine Blooms.

Upgrade your guest room

If you have a guest room, this is the perfect time to give it a little makeover and then you can test it out by staying in it for your staycation!

A guest room is a good area to try something totally different as it isn’t a place you are in all the time. Why not try that all-white look you love but won’t work in your own busy room? Or go the opposite direction and try all-out-colour and patterns that you are scared to try in a larger space.

You don’t necessarily have to redecorate. Instead, new luxury bedding and a few choice pieces of decor will transform a space quickly.

Create a retreat space

Always wanted to go on a yoga retreat? Why not turn your home office into a yoga room?

Move out all the work bits you won’t need on staycation and leave the room as empty as possible with lots of floor space to work out. Add a low table to keep a laptop or iPad on for online classes, and roll your mat out so that you are all ready.

Plants, candles and incense will all be especially important here!

Get outside

Whether you have a whole garden or an apartment balcony, it’s time to make the most of your outdoor space.

Is there anything that says vacation mode more than a hammock? Set one up outside, somewhere cool in the shade, and lay down with a good book. Holiday vibes in 5 minutes!

A few extra plants and some fairy lights are also really affordable ways to enjoy your outdoor area more this summer. Don’t forget the citronella candles!
