Happy New Year and Happy Year of the Rabbit! It’s about time we dove into the 2023 interior trends that are here to stay and how to bring them into your home in a way you’ll love for years to come.

The thing about interior trends is that while they give us inspiration and an exciting new way to look at our homes, we also want them to stick around long enough to keep our homes from feeling outdated. For this year, we want to talk about the interior trends that are here to stay from the past few years…

‘Wild Wonder’ by Dulux

Colour Trends of the Year

Dulux is continuing to take inspiration from nature with a warm yellow hue they are calling ‘Wild Wonder’. This colour has a real glow to it that will brighten any space and is surprisingly versatile for such a bold colour. We love it for sunshine-y kitchens full of light and cosy bedrooms with lots of texture.

Both Farrow & Ball and Graham & Brown have chosen rich Autumn inspired colours in Bamboozle and Alizarin, and elsewhere we are seeing colour palettes featuring lots of pinks, browns and soft neutrals.

Soft natural hues and contrasting rich, jewel tones are also all over the high street, another source of colour inspiration. Think orangey-reds, rich auburn and brown ochre.

Is 2023 the year you start being a bit braver with colour? It is clear that monochrome and all-grey-everything are out! Taking inspiration from nature will always mean that your transition from white and beige is a very soft and easy progression which is why we love these natural trends so much.

Start with soft furnishings and decor items, or go a little bolder by painting an old piece of furniture. But, whatever you do, don’t go for the accent wall! Go big and bold with an entire room re-colour or stick to the accessories. Accent walls can actually make a place feel smaller and even bolder, darker colours suggest more space when used on a grander scale.

Trends in Shape, Texture and Accessories

And just as monochrome is out, so too is the minimalism of the early 2000s. While the maximalism trend may not be for everyone, in our opinion, there is nothing wrong with a little OTT when it comes to accessorising.

What we love about moving away from minimalism is that it allows a lot more creativity. Now, this is not about clutter! This is about choosing to display, and add to, a collection of prized decor items in a way that is mindful and brings you joy.

Top tips here include curating items in groups of odd numbers, leaving 30% space on any given surface and mixing textures.

Speaking of texture, it is all about layering when it comes to soft furnishings and pattern continues to dominate over block colour. A big tip here is to have fun mixing and matching but to always keep one element the same, whether that is a specific colour that runs through your whole room or a particular shape.

When it comes to shape, we are also thrilled that curves are still in style in 2023. Rounded edges and corners, in everything from sofas to tables to storage, really help soften a room and make it feel inviting.

The biggest take home for us when researching the 2023 interior trends is that really it is all about having fun with your home. Whether that means being bold with colour, mixing contrasting patterns or adding yet another piece of decor that you just couldn’t say no to. Make 2023 the year you get creative with your decor and fall in love with your home by making it uniquely YOU.
