With the start of the new school year fast approaching, this is often a time for many new relocations to Hong Kong. So, we thought it was a great time to share with you our relocation services which we created to alleviate the stress and strain of relocating to Hong Kong.
As a group of expats ourselves, The Home Stylist team have had our fair share of relocations. Our job as local stylists and experts in moving is to not only take the stress out of your relocation but to also help you to create a home you’ll love from the moment you step inside for the first time.
We’ll go through our general plan for working with a client who is still in their home country, preparing for the move to Hong Kong and planning what to bring.
Step 1 is going to see the property.
If there aren’t floor plans, we’ll create them and then start planning with the client how the space will work for them, their family and their furniture.
At this point, we’ll also consider access. If it’s an apartment, is there a service lift? Is it big enough to bring up the sofa? How about the piano? And will it fit in the space they were hoping to have it?
With measurements of the rooms and your furniture, we will create space plans to show you what might fit where. These drawings will help you decide exactly what furniture you can or can’t bring based on the space you have.
This should hopefully erase any nasty surprises on arrival and help you save money on shipping unnecessary items.
For packing, we’ll devise a colour chart for each room for you to use when packing your end. Then, when your shipment arrives at your new home, the unpackers will know what goes in which room this end.
Having THS work with your removal company directly will ensure the space plans are adhered to. All the heavy lifting will be done, with each piece of furniture in its rightful place.
Once all the furniture is in, it’s time for us to focus on the details. Our stylists will help to add that personal touch with your chosen pieces of decor so that you arrive to a home rather than rooms full of boxes.
We also have handymen available that can help hang your art or fix any odd jobs that might need doing before your arrival.
All of this means when you and your family arrive, you can go straight into your new home.
This service can also work for someone that is moving within Hong Kong.
For this service, we advise our clients to let us take over completely. We’ve had a couple of clients go away on holiday from one home and come back to another, fully furnished and styled… we’ve even delivered the car to the new driveway!
