Upcycling has become a bit of a buzz word in recent years, but don’t be put off by thinking that you have to be creative or arty to give it a go!
In today’s World, where we like to use and throw away in order to keep up with fast changing trends, there is great satisfaction to be had in turning something old, or even modern, into a new piece. And, it’s a lot easier than you may think.
Painting furniture is a great way to give a new lease of life to a piece and freshen up a room. There are some great paints out there today which don’t even require you to do the hard work of sanding down beforehand. You can paint away and very quickly see the results. Painting isn’t just limited to furniture, certain paints can be used on textiles, so even an old lampshade can be updated.
Textiles can also be brought up to date by dying them. There are some lovely fabric dye colours out there, so your sofa, tablecloth, napkins can all be quickly revamped at a fraction of the cost of buying new.
So, don’t be afraid, give it a go!!! One warning though, it’s highly addictive and once you start it’s hard to stop. My husband often jokes, that if he stood still too long, I’d paint him!!! Now there’s a thought ….
